Learn how to cook whole foods so they are delicious and satisfying. Find out how you can use food and herbs to build your health every day. I love teaching cooking classes, because I know that “one bite is worth a thousand words!” Most people already KNOW they should eat more vegetables, or cook at home more, but some great recipes and hands-on cooking instruction along with planning and shopping strategies are key to making it actually happen.
Classes are available every quarter at the Castro Valley Adult School, where we have three complete mini-kitchens in one room. Working in pairs, every student prepares a dish. The class and recipes are clustered around a theme, such as cardiovascular health, or building immunity, but there are many nutrition principles in common for each class. The room is full of good smells and camaraderie as we cook and share the meal together.
I also teach small group cooking classes in private homes. We design a class around your nutritional preferences and plan a fun and nutritious event for you and your friends.

It’s hard to think of anything more important to each of us than the ability to think clearly, readily recall important information, and to feel happy, productive and calm. Did you know that the food you eat every day plays an enormous role in supporting these brain functions?
This hands-on cooking class will start with an overview of the important nutrition principles, beneficial foods, and cooking techniques that contribute to building better brain health. Then together we’ll prepare anti-inflammatory and nutrient dense foods rich in healthy fats, herbs and spices, antioxidants, probiotics, fiber, vitamins and minerals to create a delicious meal we will share (along with intelligent and interesting conversation!). All recipes are gluten and dairy free.
