With heart disease the #1 killer, it is important to understand how to support your hard-working heart. Join this three-class series to deepen your understanding about how this body system works, evaluate conventional dietary advice and myths, and learn about new lab tests that can help you understand and address risk. We will focus on foods, herbs, supplements and lifestyle habits to support your best cardio health. Topics will include common problems, risk factors and typical medical treatments. We will cover the role of inflammation, liver health, blood sugar, dental health, obesity, thyroid function and genetics in our search to understand and tackle root causes of symptoms such as high cholesterol, hypertension, angina, etc. Each class will include heart-healthy snacks, therapeutic herbal teas, recommended reading, recipes and informative handouts. Hands-On Cooking for Cardiovascular Health

Build better heart health every day by learning about, cooking and loving the whole foods that provide fuel for your heart and circulatory system. We will start with a short presentation on key foods, herbs and habits to sustain cardio health, then dive into the benefits of the featured foods on the menu. Next we will cook (and eat!) these powerful healing foods, learning more about the healthy fats, antioxidants, herbs & spices, and vitamin and mineral-rich vegetables that come together in a delicious and heart-sustaining meal. Good news: Chocolate is on the menu!
